aegisub to do the timing and simple typesetting

Oh.. How do you convert aegisub into video? I’m always stuck there. So decided to choose another subbing program.
i’m using a very old school program called VirtualDubMod with VSFilter.vdf as the plugins
well, i found the virtualdubmod on autogk and VSFilter on aegisub… everything is “Simple” in my way ^^
must the video be .avi?
the input file is avi, unless you can write a simple line of avisynth script
but the output file is avi mkv or ogm, i usually re-rencode it with another software if i want to make it mp4

most of our effects is hand made, using lua or ass tag
except effects that done by me, i copy it from my friend, like icic or nico_pink
Oh okay. err, How do you make effects? O.o I’ve watched youtube tutorials but all I get was “???”
read ass tags section first on Aegisub’s help.
then read at the forum of aegisub
i’m not an expert on effect, that is why i never done a fancy effect.
